The Zogg Fire, which broke out in Northern California on September 27th and claimed the lives of four people, burned more than 56,000 acres in Shasta County before finally being contained, according to a recent CNN article. CNN further states that the Zogg fire destroyed 204 structures, while damaging another 27.
PG&E May be Responsible for Yet Another Devastating California Wildfire.
According to CNN, while the cause of the Zogg Fire has not yet been determined, PG&E was recently ordered by a federal judge to “explain its role in the ignition of the Zogg Fire.” This demand was made after CalFire launched an investigation into PG&E’s equipment in order to assess whether there existed any fault or defect that may have been connected with the outbreak of the fire. Alarms went off on PG&E equipment around the time that the fire ignited, reports Redding Record Searchlight.

PG&E: A History of Negligence and Malfeasance.
In June of this year, PG&E pled guilty to one count of unlawfully starting the 2018 Camp Fire and 84 counts of involuntary manslaughter. According to an NPR article, PG&E CEO and President Bill Johnson admitted that outdated power lines were responsible for sparking the Camp Fire and the subsequent loss of life and property.
Furthermore, according to the Napa Valley Register, Napa County will receive 34.4 million in a settlement with PG&E for “Negligence in maintaining electrical infrastructure” leading to the Atlas and Partrick/Nuns fires that destroyed more than 600 homes in Napa County.

Multiple news reports have confirmed that a PG&E transmission tower malfunctioned and broke near the origin of the Kincade Fire, which sparked in northeast Sonoma County on October 23, 2019. PG&E has filed an official report with the California Public Utility Commission, stating it became aware of an outage about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday on a 230,000-volt transmission line “when the line relayed and did not reclose.” PG&E did not turn off its 230,000-volt and 115,000-volt transmission lines that were in the area, according to PG&E.
